Dear Caring Communities,
On behalf of Japanese philanthropist, we feel it is our responsibility,
as a global citizen, to help support international cooperation in this
region. It has been over two decades that we are always proud to be part
of and working along with our friends in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia to
implement scholarship program and various education development
projects for the benefit of all children.
As you may know we have been facing with difficulties and seriously
affected from the 9.0 magnitude earthquake, huge tsunami devastation and
the radiation leakage from Fukushima atomic nuclear reactor. It was the
saddest and the most severe tragic losses in the history. Almost 400 of
our donors who live in the disaster areas are still unreachable due to
telecommunication system failure.
Although our mission to foster international cooperation and advance
education development in this region remains our priority, it is not
easy for the Japanese, at this moment in time, to fully support the
causes. We fear that it will be too late for us to accomplish the
Education for All (EFA) by 2015 if our effort loses its momentum.
Therefore, it would be highly appreciated if you, as an international
caring community’s member, could actively help support the education
development in the Mekong region for the sake of its people and children
until we can get through this hardest time ever in our history.
Sincerely yours,
Terumasa Akio
